At the beginning of November 2021, we were joined by two new team members, with Ellen Dixon taking on the position of Steering Committee Member and Frederikke Høgsgaard strengthening the Secretariat as a policy advisor.

As an elected student representative with roots in the New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations, Ellen Dixon will be instrumental to strengthen the relationships with students unions in Asia and the Pacifics, supporting capacity building, projects and campaigns in the region among engagement in other political portfolios.

She has worked to connect student activism with early career researchers, inter-governmental groups, non-profits, and NGOs. Ellen is a critical security and education meta-theorist and activist in human rights with a focus on indigenous rights, decolonization, and the critique of social violence and neoliberalism.

Frederikke Høgsgaard, looks back at extensive experience advocating, campaigning and building partnerships and networks to protect and promote students’ rights across the globe through the global student movement, civil society and UN youth spaces.
