In accordance with “Our Common Agenda”, the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General is convening the UN Transforming Education Summit (TES) in September 2022, to mobilise political ambition, action, solutions and solidarity to transform education. Five thematic tracks have been developed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to directly address some of the key global challenges in education.

The purpose of this student-led event is to consult the global student movement on the five thematic tracks. It will raise awareness of the TES and call the movement’s attention to its purpose, focus and function. It will also allow for the student constituency to provide key recommendations on inclusivity, life skills and sustainable development, teachers and teaching, digital learning, and education financing.

Student organisations are crucial stakeholders in education and exist in all regions of the world, with diverse and multidimensional experiences of education within their local and regional context. Student unions are actively involved in educational policy and governance related to the areas requiring greater attention as identified by the thematic tracks. Consequently, collecting the feedback of this stakeholder group is essential, to ensure the responsiveness of the summit’s outcomes and an informed student declaration addressing the decision makers at the summit.

This worldwide student consultation will be held by the Global Student Forum (GSF), facilitated by the GSF Steering Committee and Secretariat, in partnership with the regional student federations.
