Secretariat

The Secretariat is responsible for the administrative leadership or the organisation, including the operative day to day business linked to finances, projects, communication and human resources. It is located at the headquarters of Education International in Brussels, Belgium.

Sebastian Berger

Sebastian Berger is the Executive Director of the Global Student Forum (GSF). He previously held the office of Vice President in the European Students’ Union (ESU) and was a founding member of the GSF Steering Committee. Sebastian has been an active member of the international student movement for years, holding various leadership positions on the local, national and international level that enabled him to develop a unique set of skills in the areas of strategic communication, policy analysis and development, advocacy & organizational development. He currently holds the Co-Chairmanship of the Education and Academia Stakeholder Group in the UN, engaging with the monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals through the annual High Level Political Forum.

Alongside his activism in student politics, he serves as a trustee and as the treasurer of Nobel peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s 100 Million Foundation, hosting the 100 Million Campaign through which Sebastian advocates for access to quality education for all and putting an end to child labor. As the former national spokesperson of the Green Party student wing in Austria he has a strong background in the environmental justice movement. Sebastian holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Vienna and a Master’s degree in International Relations, Strategy and Security from NUP Cyprus.

Jacob Blasius

Jacob Blasius is a former representative of the European Students’ Union on the Steering Committee of the Global Student Forum. He has a background in international relations and served for two terms as International officer of the National Union of Students in Denmark (DSF). Throughout his time in university and student politics, he has, among other policy fields, worked on internationalization, sustainable education, and global funding for education. In his position as chair of the board of Students Organizing for Sustainability International, he linked and sought to create synergies between sustainability initiatives in higher education and the student movement. Joined with fellow youth leaders of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), he also engaged decision-makers on the value of investing long-term in education systems in the global south.

Divine Edem Kwadzodeh

Divine Edem Kwadzodeh works on Communication and Social Media at the Secretariat of the Global Student Forum. He has a strong background in research, communication, and leadership and also currently works at the Secretariat of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) as Research and Communications Officer.

A student activist and leader since his high school days, Divine served as a Junior Common Room President at the University of Ghana and also previously served as the General Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), representing over 15 million Ghanaian students from basic to tertiary education. He also previously served as the Executive Director of Legon Alliance (now Legon Student Institute for Policy Studies), a student think-tank based at the University of Ghana.

Divine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Ghana. He is passionate about organizational development of student unions and the role of young people in shaping education policies.

Solomon Pobi Darko

Solomon Pobi Darko is a member of the Communications and Social Media Team at the Global Student Forum. He is also the Creative Director of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU). He graduated from the University of Professional Studies, Accra with a degree in Banking and Finance, and is presently enrolled in Codetrain Africa’s web and software development program.

His current responsibility is to ensure that the organization’s vision and mission are communicated in a visually appealing manner. This involves creating visuals for articles and publications, webinars, seminars, and summits as well as social media material.

With expertise in typography, layout, and color theory, Solomon has a keen eye for creating designs that capture attention and deliver messages effectively. He is also experienced in HTML and CSS, enabling him to collaborate seamlessly with developers to bring design concepts to the digital realm.

Macbeth Kwame Combey is a member of the Communications and Social Media Team at the Secretariat of the Global Student Forum, where he serves as a Graphic Designer. Additionally, he is currently working with the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) also. Macbeth’s passion lies in utilizing the principles of graphic design to engage with local culture and emerging trends.

He adeptly employs his graphic design skills to capture the essence of life and harmoniously blend contemporary cultural expressions with the realm of fine arts. Macbeth’s particular interest lies in using traditional kente designs as a means of showcasing the profound understanding of Ewe culture through his artistic creations.

Macbeth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Radford University College, located in East Legon, Ghana.
