As the holiday season surrounds us with cheer, warmth, and hope, itâs also a time to reflect on the world we want to create together. At the Global Student Forum, weâre dreaming of a world where no student is left behindâbecause all we want for Christmas is free quality education for all.
But this dream is far from reality for too many:
- 244 million children and youth are out of school.
- Girls and young women are disproportionately affected, especially in regions where poverty, conflict, and discriminatory practices limit their access to education.
- Millions of students never even step foot into a university classroom, their potential untapped due to financial barriers, inequitable systems, and lack of opportunities.
For those of us who believe education is a fundamental right, these numbers are a stark reminder that thereâs still so much work to do.
đ Letâs Give the Gift of Opportunity
This holiday season, weâre calling on policymakers, institutions, and global leaders to make education a priority:
- Increase investments in education systems so everyone can access a classroom, regardless of their background.
- Remove barriers to higher education, making universities inclusive, affordable, and accessible.
- Empower girls by addressing gender inequality in education and creating safe spaces for learning.
Education is the most powerful gift we can give, and itâs a gift that keeps on givingâempowering individuals, strengthening communities, and driving sustainable development.
Happy holidays from all of us at the Global Student Forum. Together, letâs make this wish come true.
Warm regards,
Jacob Blasius
