Fraud Alert
Students, activists, and student organizations around the world are increasingly targeted by scams that misuse the names, logos, and identity of trusted organizations. This page explains how Global Student Forum (GSF) communicates, which websites are officially ours, and what to do if you suspect fraudulent activity involving our name.
Official Global Student Forum websites
All official Global Student Forum websites are hosted within the domain or a subdomain of globalstudentforum.org
Our only external official websites are:
- student-news.org
- luma.com/students
If a website claiming to represent GSF is not on one of the above domains, it is not official.
How Global Student Forum will contact you
GSF communicates through:
- Email addresses ending in @globalstudentforum.org
- Pages and forms hosted on globalstudentforum.org or its subdomains
- The two external websites listed above
- Our verified social media channels. (See the full list here)
If you receive a message claiming to be from GSF but it does not match these channels, treat it with caution.
What Global Student Forum does not do
For your safety, please note that GSF:
- Does not offer paid scholarships
- Does not request passport scans, bank details, or one time codes through email or messages
- Does not ask you to pay for a GSF job, or internship
- Does not conduct recruitment exclusively via private social media messages
- Does not partner with third party agencies that request money on our behalf
If a message asks for any of these, it is not from GSF.
Common scams targeting students
Be cautious of:
- Fake “GSF scholarships” asking for processing or visa fees
- Illegitimate conferences or youth summits using our logo without linking to an official GSF domain
- Job or internship offers that require an up front payment
- Telegram/WhatsApp groups impersonating GSF officials
- Phishing emails directing you to unsafe websites not ending in globalstudentforum.org
Scammers often create a sense of urgency. Take your time to verify.
How to protect yourself
- Confirm the website domain: it must be globalstudentforum.org, student-news.org, or luma.com/students
- Check the full email address, not just the sender name
- Do not send money, documents, or sensitive information to unverified individuals
- Compare any announcement with information on our official websites
- When in doubt, contact us
If you suspect fraud
If you believe someone is misusing GSF’s name or logo:
- Do not respond or send money
- Take screenshots of messages, profiles, or websites
- Contact us here.
- If you shared personal or financial information, consider reporting it to your bank and local authorities
We take all reports seriously and use this information to protect students globally.
