The Global Student Forum (GSF) is a Technical Solution Provider in the South-South University Cooperation Network (SUCN) Blue Economy Pilot Project, contributing as a global civil society organisation to the project’s cross-cutting considerations. The project, co-launched by UNESCO IESALC and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), focuses on strengthening knowledge, capacity building, and community resilience for the preservation of natural and cultural heritage in coastal regions affected by climate change
Within the project, GSF leads the integration of meaningful youth engagement and gender equality across all core activities. Working closely with partners involved in research and capacity building, GSF ensures that young people—particularly students and youth from coastal and Global South communities—are actively involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of Blue Economy solutions. This role supports the project’s participatory and inclusive approach to triangular cooperation across Angola, Chile, Jamaica, and Portugal
GSF’s responsibilities include developing action points for youth engagement and gender equality, facilitating regular technical meetings to align these priorities with research and community-level activities, and contributing to the creation of impact-oriented dissemination materials. Through this work, the Global Student Forum helps ensure that the Blue Economy Pilot Project not only advances scientific and policy knowledge, but also empowers young people as key agents of change in building sustainable, equitable, and resilient coastal communities
