Our Steering Committee members help shape GSF’s strategic direction, develop policy positions and represent the organisation internationally. They also oversee organisational development and finances, working with the Secretariat and ensuring that the priorities of their constituencies inform GSF’s work.

We are looking for committed representatives who can contribute to this work and maintain regular consultation with the organisations they represent.

How to nominate a candidate

The process depends on the constituency:

  • National Student Unions (NUS), Student Organisations (SO), and Subject-Based Student Organisations (SBSO): GSF member organisations in each constituency may nominate a person through the official nomination form. Each constituency may elect one representative. Nominations must include a signed nomination letter, a motivation letter from the candidate, and the names and contact details of the candidate and a substitute.
  • Regional Student Unions (RSUs): Candidates must be nominated directly to the relevant RSU, which selects its representative through its approved internal process. Contact your RSU for its nomination requirements and internal deadline.

Who is eligible?

Candidates must be nominated by a GSF member organisation, have been active in that organisation within the past two years, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their nominating organisation. They do not need to be registered as full-time students.

Candidates must be able to devote sufficient time to their responsibilities and comply with GSF’s regulations, including the Code of Conduct. They are strongly encouraged not to hold another leadership position in their GSF member organisation during the mandate.

Key dates

  • 11 November 2026, 23:59 CET (UTC+1): Deadline for NUS, SO and SBSO nominations.
  • 23–27 November 2026: Digital constituency election meetings.
  • 4 December 2026, 23:59 CET (UTC+1): Deadline for RSUs to submit their selected representatives to GSF.
  • 11 January 2027: Start of the new Steering Committee mandate.

Please read the attached Call for Nominations to the 2027 Steering Committee for the full responsibilities, eligibility requirements and procedures.

Submit a nomination

We encourage member organisations to circulate this call and identify candidates who can contribute to GSF’s leadership throughout the mandate.
