The Global Student Forum (GSF) is a beneficiary partner in the Horizon Europe project Democratic Roles of Universities (DRU), which explores how universities can actively practice and strengthen democratic values through science, education, civic engagement, and governance. GSF contributes a vital student-led and international perspective to the project’s research, training, and dissemination activities

Within DRU, GSF plays a role in integrating student voices into debates on democracy in higher education. The organisation contributes to research and networking activities by sharing insights from student movements worldwide, highlighting how democratic practices are experienced by students in different political, social, and institutional contexts. Through its involvement in secondments, collaborative research, and knowledge exchange, GSF helps bridge academic research with lived student experience and civic engagement

GSF also supports the project’s dissemination and outreach goals, ensuring that DRU’s findings reach student organisations, youth networks, and civil society actors beyond academia. By doing so, the Global Student Forum strengthens DRU’s impact and reinforces the project’s commitment to participatory governance, inclusion, and democracy in higher education systems across Europe and globally
