GSF Welcomes New Steering Committee at Successful 2025 Handover in Copenhagen

From 26–28 August 2025, the Global Student Forum (GSF) gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the official Handover to the newly elected Steering Committee. Hosted at the offices of the National Union of Students in Denmark (DSF) with participants staying in the city centre, the event brought together incoming committee members, GSF Secretariat staff, and a range of partners for three days of learning, planning, and connection.

The Handover opened with introductions and a deep dive into GSF’s mission, history, and governance, followed by reflections from outgoing Steering Committee member Anna Weinrich on the responsibilities and opportunities that come with the role. Across the programme, members engaged with key partners and allies through a series of presentations and discussions.

The programme also included the first formal meeting of the new Steering Committee, where members discussed Rules of Procedure, elected the Trusted Person Team, set a meeting calendar, and defined priorities for the year ahead. Social activities, shared meals, and informal networking provided additional opportunities to strengthen relationships within the new team and with GSF’s wider community.

“This Handover is a chance to connect, align, and prepare to represent students globally in the critical work ahead,” said Jacob Blasius, Executive Director of GSF. “We are proud to welcome the new Steering Committee and grateful to all partners and members who shared their insights and solidarity over the past days.”
